New Jersey Natural Gas Direct Install Program

The New Jersey Natural Gas Direct Install Program is an initiative aimed at helping small businesses in New Jersey improve their energy efficiency and reduce their utility costs. The program is administered by New Jersey Natural Gas (NJNG) in partnership with the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities (NJBPU) and is designed to make it easier for businesses to upgrade their equipment and facilities to more energy-efficient alternatives.

The Direct Install program is crafted to offer substantial incentives for energy-saving projects. These incentives cover a variety of energy-consuming equipment such as LED lighting, heating, cooling, and refrigeration. Under this program, NJNG pays for the entire project cost upfront, with customers repaying as little as 20% with a five year 0% on-bill repayment*.

Who is Eligible for the NJNG Direct Install Program?

Small and medium-sized facilities with an average annual electric demand below 200 kW are eligible for the NJNG Direct Install program. Benefits extend across various business sectors, including retail stores, restaurants, office buildings, manufacturing plants, healthcare facilities, hospitality establishments, educational institutions, non-profit organizations, mixed-use buildings, small offices, and more.

*To qualify for the NJNG 0% APR OBRP, customers must have a good payment history with NJNG and no bankruptcies in the past seven years.

What is The Process?

1. We will review your eligibility and confirm your business meets certain required criteria.
2. If eligible, we will conduct a free energy audit of the business premises. During this audit, we will assess your energy usage patterns and identify areas where energy efficiency improvements can be made.
3. Based on the findings of the energy audit, we will provide you with recommendations for energy-saving measures. These recommendations may include upgrades to heating, ventilation, and air conditioning (HVAC) systems, lighting fixtures, insulation, and other energy-consuming equipment.
4. If you choose to proceed, we will coordinate with NJNG to install the recommended energy-efficient upgrades.
5. The Direct Install program provides rebates and incentives to help offset the upfront costs of the upgrades. In many cases, the program covers some or all of the costs associated with purchasing and installing the new equipment.
6. Once the upgrades are installed, your business can enjoy reduced energy consumption and lower utility bills.
